Can Christians have fun?

Proverbs 13:9The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. . . . A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.

Nehemiah 8:10Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast . . . and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”

Matthew 25:21“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”

Luke 15:22-24“But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.”

1 Timothy 3:2So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home.

Joy, fun, and celebration as God intended are important parts of Christian faith. They lift our spirits, bless our relationships, and help us see the beauty and meaning in life. Good times on earth are a taste of heaven.
