Why does evil exist?

Genesis 2:15-17; 3:22The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” . . . The Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil.”

Evil exists in the world because the man and the woman disobeyed God. When they disobeyed, humanity’s relationship with God was broken; we were separated from God. Sin and death began to invade human relationships and actions, and all creation feels the consequences.
