Shouldn’t I have the final say over what happens to my body?
1 Corinthians 3:16-17Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
1 Corinthians 6:12-13You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
Our lives were given to us for the purpose of glorifying God. The Holy Spirit lives in us. When anyone acts in ways that are not good for his or her body or even destroy it, that person is breaking down the temple where God dwells. Satan delights in this. Just as Satan tempts us and twists our judgment in other matters, he may try to convince us to give up on life.
