Is diversity consistent with equality?

Matthew 5:19“If you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Matthew 10:41-42“If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 12, 18There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. . . . The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. . . . But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.

Being equal is not synonymous with being identical. Diversity is a part of God’s plan for today and for eternity. In God’s eyes we are not all alike, yet we are all equal.
