Romans 12:18Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

1 Timothy 1:4Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God.

1 Timothy 4:7Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.

We should all do our part to live in peace with others. As we face a conflict, we should ask: Will pursuing this issue help people grow in faith? Will this lead to our becoming a more unified community of faith?”

Ephesians 4:3Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Spiritual unity and fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit will also help us bring unity and peace to our human relationships.

Romans 14:1Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.

Philippians 2:2-3Make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Colossians 3:13-15Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

2 Timothy 2:23-24Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.

1 Peter 3:8Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.

We are to treat others as we would like to be treated—with love, sympathy, tenderness, humility, in cooperation and unity, unselfishly, with kindness, patience, forgiveness, and acceptance. These things bring honor to God and improve our earthly relationships.

Proverbs 17:14Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out.

Proverbs 20:3Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.

Proverbs 26:17, 21Interfering in someone else’s argument is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears. . . . A quarrelsome person starts fights as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood.

Romans 16:17Now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.

Philippians 2:14-15Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

There is wisdom in avoiding arguments whenever possible. An argument avoided is often a win for both parties.
