How do leaders best delegate?

Leaders understand that delegation is not simply letting go of work or “dumping” things we don’t want to do on others. Delegation is a form of discipleship. After a time of being with Jesus, he delegated his ministry in an initial way to his disciples. He gave them specific instructions about what to do and where to go. Above all, he trusted them and valued their contribution.

2 Timothy 2:2You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.

Leaders develop others who can develop others. They care as much about helping others learn and accomplish as they care about their own accomplishments. Delegation is a primary strategy for nurturing maturity and responsibility in those we lead.
