Romans 8:35-37Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?. . . No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Psalm 34:18The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit.

Isaiah 41:10Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

Acts 10:38And no doubt you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the Devil, for God was with him.

God’s loving presence sustains, rescues, and heals the defeated. Sometimes we notice only our troubles and enemies. But when we recognize the presence of the God of Creation walking with us, we will not feel defeated.
