How does our dependence on God relate to making decisions?

2 Chronicles 16:9The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

God wants to help you make the right decisions. He is looking for you to depend fully on him. Your openness to him is the first step to being shown the way.

James 1:5-8If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Some people fear they are bothering God with their problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. God is looking for ways to help you because he loves you. Your commitment to him releases his resources for you.

Romans 8:26-27The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

When you are overwhelmed, confused, or uncertain, do not hesitate to pray. In fact, these are the best times to pray because the Holy Spirit can then help you the most. Describe your situation to God and trust him to prescribe the solution.
