What is the danger of becoming involved in someone else’s debt?

Proverbs 6:1-4My child, if you have put up security for a friend’s debt or agreed to guarantee the debt of a stranger . . . you have placed yourself at your friend’s mercy.

Proverbs 17:18It’s poor judgment to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for a friend.

Proverbs 22:26-27Don’t agree to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for someone else. If you can’t pay it, even your bed will be snatched from under you.

If you co-sign a note, be absolutely sure you can repay the entire debt if your friend defaults on the loan. Otherwise, you will be putting yourself, your business, and even your family at risk.
