Is there any hope for people who die without putting their faith in Jesus?

John 3:16“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

The only guarantee of eternal life in heaven after death is by believing in Jesus. It is wise for each of us to examine our hearts and make sure that we truly believe in him and his saving power.

Luke 23:42-43Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Just like the thief on the cross, anyone can receive Jesus’ assurance of eternal life, even in their last moments. Since we cannot really know what is going on in a person’s heart, there is always hope that a person you knew as an unbeliever turned to the Lord in the last minutes of their life.
