What are the characteristics of God’s counsel?

Job 12:13“But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.”

Proverbs 8:14“Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine.”

James 3:15-17Jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. . . . But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.

God’s counsel is true wisdom, understanding, and insight. It is peaceable and honest and leads to success and goodness.

Psalm 32:8The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

God’s counsel leads to the best way to live.

Psalm 73:24You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.

God’s counsel is ongoing and eternal.

Psalm 33:11The Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.

Isaiah 14:24, 27The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided. . . . The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”

Isaiah 46:10Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

God’s counsel is sure. You can always count on it to be good and wise and right.
