Does it really make a difference if I live a consistent life or not?

Deuteronomy 8:1“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.”

1 Thessalonians 4:12Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.

Titus 2:7You yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.

People may not accept your faith, but if your lifestyle is consistently kind and helpful, more often than not they are compelled to trust and admire you. In addition, your life will benefit from the wisdom of God’s commands.
