What does it mean to confess Christ?

Psalm 111:1Praise the Lord! I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people.

Matthew 10:32“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”

Romans 10:9-10If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

1 John 2:4If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

Confessing Christ includes gladly acknowledging Jesus as Lord and publicly claiming allegiance to him. If you want Christ to acknowledge you as his redeemed, you must acknowledge him as your Redeemer. He will claim you in the day of judgment just as you claim him now. That confession of faith is the beginning of a new relationship with God where you receive his grace and mercy, and live a life of repentance, confessing your sins and receiving God’s forgiveness daily.
