How can the Bible give me comfort?

Psalm 119:49-50, 52, 54Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles. . . . I meditate on your age-old regulations; O Lord, they comfort me. . . . Your decrees have been the theme of my songs wherever I have lived.

Proverbs 30:5Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

Romans 15:4Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

God’s promises in the Bible comfort and encourage you in this life and give you the confident assurance that you will one day live forever in peace and security with him. Since God is your ultimate comfort, his Word is your greatest resource for comfort. God’s Word is as close as your fingertips, and God himself is as close as your whispered prayer.
