If God’s will is going to happen anyway, do my choices really matter?

2 Samuel 10:12“Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the Lord’s will be done.”

Acts 18:9-11One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.” So Paul stayed there for the next year and a half, teaching the word of God.

Acts 27:22-25“But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.”

There is a balance between trusting God and doing your part. While God sometimes uses miracles, angels, or the extraordinary, he more often uses ordinary people doing ordinary things to accomplish his will. He calls you to choose to follow him each moment, and he gives meaning to your choices.
