Does God work to change my character, or is it all up to me?

Galatians 5:22-23The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Philippians 2:13God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

When you invite God into your life, you are also giving him permission to use his power to change you. He won’t force change on you, but if you ask, you have the very power of God himself to begin a work of transformation in you that lasts a lifetime. When you try to change on your own, the results will be poor and you will become discouraged. With the powerful help of the Holy Spirit, however, you will begin to see change and growth toward maturity in your character and choices.
