What can cause chaos?

Ephesians 4:17With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

An ungodly life can cause chaos and confusion.

Judges 17:6In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.

Ezekiel 34:5So my sheep have been scattered without a shepherd, and they are easy prey for any wild animal.

Lack of leadership can cause chaos.

Exodus 14:24Just before dawn the Lord looked down on the Egyptian army from the pillar of fire and cloud, and he threw their forces into total confusion.

Deuteronomy 7:23“But the Lord your God will hand them over to you. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed.”

1 Samuel 7:10Just as Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines arrived to attack Israel. But the Lord spoke with a mighty voice of thunder from heaven that day, and the Philistines were thrown into such confusion that the Israelites defeated them.

2 Samuel 22:15“[The Lord] shot arrows and scattered his enemies; his lightning flashed, and they were confused.”

Zechariah 12:4“On that day,” says the Lord, “I will cause every horse to panic and every rider to lose his nerve. I will watch over the people of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of their enemies.

The Lord God can cause chaos for the benefit, protection, and defense of his children.

Genesis 7:17For forty days the floodwaters grew deeper, covering the ground and lifting the boat high above the earth.

Isaiah 24:1, 3-4, 10-12Look! The Lord is about to destroy the earth and make it a vast wasteland. He devastates the surface of the earth and scatters the people. . . . The earth will be completely emptied and looted. The Lord has spoken! The earth mourns and dries up, and the land wastes away and withers. Even the greatest people on earth waste away. . . . The city writhes in chaos; every home is locked to keep out intruders. Mobs gather in the streets.

Revelation 6:15-17Then everyone—the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy, the powerful, and every slave and free person—all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to survive?”

The Lord God can cause chaos and destruction as judgment for sin.

Psalm 55:5Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking.

Psalm 69:2Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me.

Mounting troubles and fears can cause chaos because you feel overwhelmed.

Ephesians 4:14Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.

Immaturity and inexperience can cause chaos. The more you can grow in godliness, the better you can respond to chaos.

James 3:15-16For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
