Why does God allow challenges in my life?

James 1:2-4Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Just as it takes the rough surface of a file to sharpen and smooth the blade of a knife, so it takes rough times to sharpen you into the kind of person that God can effectively use. Any challenge is a tool God can use to help you grow in wisdom and maturity. As you endure these challenges, you gain more and more courage to face whatever comes your way.
