What causes me to be held captive by these things?

Romans 12:2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

Philippians 4:8Now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Colossians 2:8Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.

This world’s thinking and behavior can lead you astray. Ungodly thinking can make you captive to a habit of ungodly thoughts, and sinful thinking leads to sinful living. You can change the way you think by focusing your thoughts on God, who is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise.
