What does God call his followers to do?

Matthew 22:37-39“‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

1 Corinthians 10:31So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Galatians 5:16Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Colossians 3:17Whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:23Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

If you don’t sense a specific call on your life right now, you still have the call to simply follow Jesus, obeying him wherever you are right now. You have been called to do everything you do every day—even the mundane tasks—to the glory of God, letting the Holy Spirit guide, trying to steer clear of sin, and loving your neighbors as yourself.

Ecclesiastes 11:9Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.

God gives you the freedom to follow many different roads over the course of life and pursue many different activities, but remember that you will have to answer to him for everything you do. Not everything you do is a call from God, but everything you do is accountable to God.
