What kinds of blessings does God send my way?

Numbers 6:24-26“‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’”

Success and prosperity are not the most common blessings from God. Rather peace, comfort, joy, fellowship with God, hope, and eternal life with him have been promised to you—and they are the best blessings of all. This special blessing from the Old Testament highlights the way God looks at us with favor and moves toward us with protection, grace, and peace.

Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

The people receiving this message had been carried into exile, and they had just learned from the prophet Jeremiah that most of them would never see their homes again. Yet Jeremiah spoke into their sorrow and encouraged them with the promise that the Lord was not finished with his people. When our circumstances seem hopeless, we should remember that the blessings God intends for us are all for our benefit in every way. They come with his promise of a future with him.
