How can the promise of blessing help me when I am weary or discouraged?
1 Corinthians 15:57-58Thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
We are not always “strong,” “immovable,” and “enthusiastic” as we live in a fallen world. But these traits are holy targets we can aim for, resisting the temptation to constantly measure our effectiveness and focusing instead on what Jesus Christ has done for us. He values all our efforts to serve him, and he promises that none of them will be a waste of time.
Galatians 6:9Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
It is natural to get tired, even physically exhausted, as we go about doing good. But we should never make the mistake of declaring that doing good is too tiring to be worthwhile. When you are tempted to give up, find new resolve by remembering that God promises to bring a harvest of blessing in his perfect time.
