How can leaders bless those they lead?

Matthew 25:21The master was full of praise. “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!”

Leaders can imitate God by blessing the people in their group or organization. Withholding praise or well-deserved remuneration cheats people, undermines the effectiveness of the effort, and hurts all involved. Praise and affirmation, properly given, will not give people a “big head,” but will instead enlarge their hearts and deepen their commitment to the leader.

2 Timothy 2:1-2Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.

Leaders bless best when they remember the impact they have both on their immediate sphere of influence and also on concentric secondary spheres. Bless others in ways that encourage and equip them to bless others.
