How can I be a blessing to others?

Galatians 5:22-23The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The fruits of the Spirit are not primarily internal experiences of well-being; they are manifested in our relationships with others. As we share the fruits of the Holy Spirit with others, we will be both blessed and a blessing.

Romans 1:11-12I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.

The apostle Paul developed a character trait worth emulating: He was continually looking near and far for others he might bless. He longed to deliver the goodness of the gospel and the blessings of encouragement to other Christ-followers.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.

Because we continue to live in a fallen world and are not immune from various hardships and sufferings, we will constantly have opportunities to comfort others who are experiencing difficulty. This is particularly the case as we become aware of how often and in what ways God supplies comfort to us.

2 Corinthians 2:14Thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.

God’s work in this world is always in motion. Never think of yourself as the final destination of God’s blessings or the gospel. God changes us into channels rather than holding ponds. As you share the blessings God has poured on you, you will bless others as well. Encouraging others with God’s Good News is one of his most rewarding blessings.
