How can a book written so long ago be relevant for me today?

Isaiah 40:8The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.

We can’t take our physical Bibles with us to heaven, but Scripture can teach us how to get there. Because the contents of the Bible were revealed by an eternal, unchanging God, they bear the eternal, unchanging nature of their author.

2 Timothy 3:16-17All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

God’s Word is timeless and therefore consistently applicable to every human situation. The principles of godly living in the Bible speak truthful guidance to every generation. Failure to give correct attention to God’s Word can produce all kinds of chaos in our lives.

Hebrews 4:12The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Because the Bible is the Word of God, it is the only truly “living” document. It exhibits both God’s timeliness and his timelessness. In other words, it is relevant for all people in all places in any era. It is as contemporary as the heart of God and as relevant as your most urgent need.
