What is the danger in evaluating others based on appearance?

Matthew 23:28“Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

2 Corinthians 11:13-15These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.

A beautiful cover does not make an excellent book. In the same way, appearances can hide many faults. For a while, a smooth talker can cover up for a lack of substance. Religious activity usually appears to be good but can sometimes be a cover for self-centered motives. We should make sure to focus on substance, not on image.
