What are some of the benefits of old age?
Job 12:12Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old.
Psalm 71:18Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
Proverbs 20:29The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old.
One benefit of growing older is the wisdom that can come from a lifetime of experience. Living a long time gives us the opportunity to pass on to the next generations the lessons of a lifetime of faithfulness to God and the blessings he showers on us through the years. And we can share stories of God’s faithfulness to us and his involvement in our lives.
2 Timothy 4:6-8The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
As we age, we should be determined to finish well. This means staying faithful to the Lord as we eagerly anticipate the glory of the eternity that awaits us.
