Will there be adversity in heaven?

Genesis 2:15The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.

Genesis 3:17-19And to the man he [God] said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.”

Matthew 25:23“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”

Revelation 21:3-4I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

There will be no death, pain, sin, or suffering in heaven. We will not be burdened with dreary, uncomfortable work. Yet eternity will not be a boring place, lacking activity or challenges. Just as humanity was given work and responsibility in the Garden of Eden, God will give us exciting new roles, responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities in his eternal Kingdom.
