Hope For The Future

Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22

Many people are fascinated with the future. Successful television series like Star Trek and Flash Gordon were created around imaginary places in time. The possibilities were endless for story lines and unusual happenings. Those who enjoy science fiction are entertained by the future and what it holds, and then there are those who want nothing more than to know what the future holds and to control it by carefully planning every detail of their lives. That, of course, is impossible. Planning and working toward a successful life is good, but we cannot ultimately control what we do not know or understand. The good news is that we know Someone who can. We can speculate and postulate about what we think will happen, but isn’t it far easier to trust in the One who created all things to guide and direct our lives?

God is our strength and shield. He’ll either shield us from trouble, or strengthen us in it. The One who holds the future also holds us tightly in His hands. So we can look forward with thankfulness.

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.
