Always

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:18

Always means “in all ways” and “at all times.” It’s not a word to use carelessly; it’s an absolute. Yet some always are ours by perpetual promise. The Lord tells us to always keep His commands and to fear the Lord our God for our good always (Deuteronomy 5:29; 6:24). Psalm 16:8 says, “I have set the LORD always before me” (emphasis added). Proverbs 28:14 says, “Happy is the man who is always reverent” (emphasis added). Paul testifies, “I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men” (Acts 24:16, emphasis added).

Jesus promised to be with us always; and we’re to be always abounding in the work of the Lord (Matthew 28:20; 1 Corinthians 15:58). We ought always to pray and not to lose heart (Luke 18:1), and to always do what pleases Him (John 8:29).

The Bible says, “May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way,” for He “always leads us in triumph in Christ” (2 Thessalonians 3:16; 2 Corinthians 2:14, emphasis added). So we’re always confident, always having sufficiency in all things (2 Corinthians 5:8; 9:8).

That’s why we can rejoice always (1 Thessalonians 5:16)!
