A Capital T

If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:31-32

In John’s Gospel, the words true and truth occur forty-five times. Jesus is the true light (1:9), the true bread from heaven (6:32), and the true vine (15:1). He is full of grace and truth (1:14). His witness is true (8:14). When He speaks, He tells the truth (8:40), for He Himself was the truth (14:6). When He stood before Pilate, He bore witness to the truth (18:37-38).

Yet Pilate asked, “What is truth?”

Today we call that philosophy by a name—moral relativism. People in our society have rejected transcendent truth and moral absolutes, choosing instead to craft their laws and govern their lives by personal opinion and societal consensus.

But God’s Word is truth between two covers. It is absolute, inerrant, infallible, unshakable, timeless truth, and it enables us to live our lives with certainty, having all the God-given facts, promises, and explanations we need from Him who created us.

That Bible in your possession—it’s the Truth with a capital T. Not one word will fail, nor will a single promise be forgotten. You can trust it—with a capital T.

If we understood what happens when we use the Word of God, we would use it oftener.
