Trust Fall

Trust Fall

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

Psalm 28:7

A “trust fall” is an exercise where you close your eyes and fall backward into the waiting arms of another person. As frightening a feeling as that is, that’s exactly how much I want to trust God. I want to fall without hesitation into His arms every day—something I think we have to challenge ourselves with in every area of our lives as we walk out our freedom.

Do you, for instance, trust God enough to believe that He is at work in your present relationships? To persevere under the pressure of your responsibilities? To remain faithful and patient in this season, no matter what you are dealing with? Risking trust in every one of these scenarios is what falling into His arms really looks like:

“Yes, Lord, I will fight for the survival of my difficult marriage.”

“Yes, I will remain honest through this bad financial situation.”

“Yes, I will offer forgiveness in an attempt to repair this broken friendship.”

Trust your heart to God. Fall back into His arms and feel the solid embrace of your Strength and Shield.

Lord, thank You that You are at work according to Your perfect timing. I trust in You more today, my Strength and Shield.
