The Wonder In Your Heart
The Wonder In Your Heart
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:3
Albert Einstein once said, “I have no special talents. I am just passionately curious.”
Being curious is “wanting to know.” Children are naturally like this. They ask lots of questions—often to the point of exasperating us! I can remember when mine were little and always asking, “Why?” It seemed no answer I gave was sufficient, because their next breath was again, “Why?”
But even Jesus told us to be like little children, childlike in our faith, in awe of the greatness of our God: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3).
Being curious, like a child, is how we keep the wonder God placed in our hearts to continually seek Him, learn, and grow. It’s how we keep our hearts hungry for who He is and eager to know what He’s called us to do.
Being curious about others increases our capacity for empathy and caring, because to care about someone, we have to wonder about them first. One of the best ways to learn is to be interested in people and ask them questions.
Being curious is essential to problem solving and learning. When we open the door to increasing our knowledge and understanding, we grow in innovation and creativity.
So let’s stay curious!
Holy Spirit, please pique my curiosity today about You, Your world, and the ones You place in my path.
