The Marathon Of Life
The Marathon Of Life
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:22
Marathon runners are consistently—if not constantly—in training. Maybe you’ve seen them bounding down your roadways, or you might even be one yourself. These long-distance runners understand that training for that race is essential. In addition to strengthening their physical capacity to run that distance, training also prepares them to deal with any possible obstacles and hindrances they might encounter along the way.
We Christians must constantly be in training as well. Every day we need to make the effort to do the things that will determine our capacity to run the race of life and prepare us to know how to deal with possible obstacles and hindrances.
Think about your training program and whether it will get you where you want to be. Reading the Bible, praising and worshiping God, and asking Him to attune your heart to the Holy Spirit are among the disciplines that strengthen believers. Faithfulness—every day, some days more and some days less—will yield amazing results as you run the marathon of life for your Lord.
Lord, help me be faithful in discipline with the end goal in mind: building unshakeable faith and fulfilling Your purpose for my life.
