Shoulder To The Plow

Shoulder To The Plow

One day while Moses was taking care of the sheep and goats of his father-in-law Jethro . . . the angel of the Lord appeared to him as a flame…God said…” It’s time for you to go back: I’m sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the People of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Exodus 3:1–10

When the world tells you, “Market yourself; sell yourself; build your portfolio,” remember that God is the one who promotes you.

In the Bible, when great heroes of the faith were called, they were always working, not promoting themselves. David was shepherding, Elisha was driving oxen, Moses was taking care of his father-in-law’s animals. Diligently, dirtily, and thanklessly, they worked through danger, stench, and discomfort. And because God saw them working hard, He spoke to others on their behalf and anointed them. Do you think their “gifting,” “calling,” or “sweet spot” was laboring in the fields? No! They were created to be a king, a prophet, and a father of faith. But they each worked hard where they were before God promoted them.

If God has assigned you, He will find you! And He tends to work with those who are already working! When you align yourself with God in faithfulness and diligence, He will work on your behalf and get you to your destiny.

Lord, I choose to work diligently and faithfully right where I am, knowing that You will speak to others on my behalf. You will promote me.
