Set The Captives Free

Set The Captives Free

The LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.

Isaiah 61:1

We are called to live a life of freedom—and help free others along the way. For those of us who have been shackled by fear or shame, or enslaved to false ideas and thoughts, it’s a gift to help others break free. As I travel the world ministering God’s freedom, I am keenly aware of the difference between freedom and bondage—both naturally and spiritually.

When I lie down at night, my life seems far removed from those people who are trapped, afraid, broken, imprisoned, and ignored. Our lives seem worlds apart. I am happily married, with healthy children, living in a safe home, able to come and go as I please. My family and I have food, clothing, shelter, and health care. I have dreams, plans, and goals for my future. I am free.

Yet in ministry around the world, I meet so many people who are living without justice, love, hope, or any promise that their lives or their children’s lives may someday get better. I love that every new day—for you and for me—means another chance to make a difference—to help set the captives free.

Lord, please show me what I can do today and in the future. Use me to help set captives free.
