Our Seeking God

“In the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Luke 15:7

In Luke 15, Jesus told three stories about how easy it is to be lost—and how remarkable it is to be saved. Jesus first told the story of a lost and rescued sheep. Then, as if to be sure we don’t miss the message, He told about a lost coin that was found and a lost son who returned home. All to remind us He is in the business of finding, saving, and celebrating.

These stories can help us remember important truths that reflect God’s infinite grace. He says to us:

No matter how deep the pit, I will always seek you and rescue you because I love you with an everlasting love. Even when you mess up, even when you’re careless or mistaken or afraid or broken or weak, even when you deliberately sin, I still love you. Even when you are incapable of doing anything for anyone or even helping yourself, I still love you. I come for all those who have made mistakes, those who are overlooked, devalued, and despised. I come for the lost, whether the lost is a silly sheep, a silver coin, a squandering son . . . or you.

Lord, I am all too aware that my heart is prone to wandering. By Your grace, tether my heart to Yours. Thank You for finding me!
