Meeting The God Of The Bible

Meeting The God Of The Bible

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

When I was young, my initial view of God was shaped in the church I was forced to attend with my family. In all those years I cannot remember ever hearing that God loved me. I am sure many of the church leaders believed this to be true, but either no one told me or I simply did not hear or understand it.

My perspective of God was also influenced by relatives and friends who had never read the Bible for themselves. These were sincere and good people, but they were sincerely wrong about God. But somewhere along the journey I met the God of the Bible, who is big in grace, big in mercy, big in love, and big in forgiveness—and I was transformed.

If you’ve had rough experiences with church on this earth, take heart. Just as God did for me, He can reframe your understanding of church. He can show you authentic Christianity—the kind that comes from a vibrant, living relationship with Jesus. Let the true God of the Bible help you “to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23–24).

Thank You, God, for showing me who You really are and the gift of Your church to me.
