Life-giving Words

Life-giving Words

The word of God is alive and active.

Hebrews 4:12

Words have power, and they can change you for the better. Who and what you listen to can influence what you will do in life, determine the risks you will take, and shape who you become.

If you constantly hear that you are a failure or that you are not good enough, not talented enough, not pretty enough, or not smart enough, then you eventually will begin to believe those lies. Listening to the wrong voices will cripple and immobilize you. But God has empowered us to hear Him—and His is the voice of the Good Shepherd (John 10:27).

If you are listening to affirming, life-giving, hope-filled messages from the Word of God, you will be better able to hear His voice when He calls you. You will be stronger and take greater risks because you will have the faith to believe that Jesus is who He says He is and that He will do what He has promised.

God’s Word is living and active: it breathes life back into dead bones, weary souls, and broken hearts (John 7:38). God’s Word sustains and empowers; it guides and encourages. Its truth brings freedom, hope, and joy. His Word is for you—and it will accomplish His loving plans for you (Isaiah 55:11).

I live in a noisy world, Lord, and I’ve heard unhelpful, untrue messages about myself. Help me counter the noise and the lies with the calm, life-giving truth of Your Word.
