Chosen Inclusively

You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

Most of the time, when you make a choice—of what to have for dinner, what college to attend, what person to marry—you choose exclusively. What I mean is that you select something and exclude everything else. You make your pick, and essentially leave the other choices behind. God, on the other hand, has a way of choosing inclusively—and that’s how He chose you.

God chooses everyone, all the time. He never chooses one person at the exclusion of another. He loves each one of us—all of us—so much that He paid with His Son’s life the price for our forgiveness and reconciliation to Him.

When you comprehend the magnitude of what it means to be chosen by God, it makes you feel qualified, confident, and eager to share the truth about forgiveness and reconciliation with others. You want to say to everyone you meet, “God chose you too!” What a privilege to help others discover that they, too, have been chosen by God and for God. What a privilege to share the gospel and disciple others in a growing relationship with God.

Thank You, God, for choosing me, adopting me, loving me, and using me to share Your good news.
