Behind The Scenes

Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

Psalm 4:1

Have you ever felt like your prayers were just bouncing off the ceiling? Did you wonder if God was even listening? Let me reassure you: God is not ignoring you! He is hearing you. And He’s answering you—but it’s a process where you have no idea what He is doing in the heavenlies and behind the scenes.

Perhaps, for your best interest and someone else’s, God rearranges ten thousand other things in order to answer your request. (That takes time!) Or, more specifically, maybe you have prayed for years for a certain friend to be saved, and—nothing. But unbeknownst to you, God is at work, moving a Christian into your friend’s town for a job at the company where she works—all so they will have a spiritually significant conversation over coffee. Elsewhere, God is arranging for a Christian band to come and play in that person’s town—and for someone else to give your friend a free ticket to the concert. The workings of God are infinitely complicated, but He weaves them all together for His glory, and for the love of His children.

Trust that He always hears you and is at work behind the scenes to answer your prayer!

Lord, You are a master choreographer. Keep me mindful of this when I’m waiting to see an answer to my prayer.
