Be With God’s People

Be With God’s People

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Matthew 5:4

When you are hurting, isn’t home the best place to be? And not just our physical home, but also our church—our spiritual home. I encourage you today to take your pain—no matter how raw you feel—to the house of God, to the family of God.

I know firsthand how impossible that might sound. I dreaded going to church the first Sunday after Nick and I lost a baby. But what I remember most is not how awful it was to tell the news again and again, but rather how incredibly loving and warm our church family was. As they gathered around Nick and me in our grief, we were able to lift our eyes off our circumstances and see God’s lovingkindness. Because of their love, in time, we were able to begin hoping again—and God gave us Sophia.

And in the years since, I have run to my sisters to encourage them, to inspire them, to tell them of God’s faithfulness. Because I know His love and healing personally.

I know God will use His people in your local house of worship to help you. You were meant to help each other: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1). Go home and be with God’s people—your family. There, He will heal you.

Thank You, Lord, that Your love for me becomes more real to me through Your people.
