The Paralytic - Turning Points with God
The Paralytic
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
Mark 2:5
A man went to the dentist, suffering from a bad toothache. The dentist, in his examination, realized that the source of the problem was deeper than the tooth and sent the man to a cardiologist, where he was treated for heart disease.
In the story in Mark 2, four friends carried a paralytic on a stretcher to Jesus. Unable to get through the crowds, these men lowered their buddy through the roof, and the man descended right in front of Jesus. Looking at him, the Lord detected a heart problem. This man needed forgiveness. Perhaps he had caused an accident that had hurt others and left himself paralyzed. His condition may have even been the result of his own folly and sinfulness.
Jesus banished his sins forever, then proceeded to heal him completely.
Our problems and needs run deeper than we sometimes know, but when we walk with the great Physician, He diagnoses accurately and heals completely.
When a spiritual cure is wrought by the Great Physician, praise is one of the surest signs of renewed health.
