Who Needs Healing
Who Needs Healing
I am the LORD, who heals you.
I STUMBLED OUT OF BED and toward the adjoining bathroom, calling out for Jared as I went. The pain was debilitating, and I couldn’t lie down any longer. No position was comfortable. I was in agony and collapsed on the cool tile.
It wasn’t the first time I had experienced endometrial pain like this. For years, at the same time each month, I lost days of my life to the disease. Medicines weren’t helping. Now doctors were suggesting surgery, though I was still hoping to find another solution. On this night, however, we were smack in the middle of a worldwide health crisis. Just going to the emergency room felt dangerous, but it had to be done. I called out to my husband from the bathroom floor, and he drove me to the hospital.
I was sick at a time when the whole world seemed to be sick too. It was scary on so many levels, which only added to my anxiety and stress. Finally, I was able to see a doctor I trusted, and almost two years later I had surgery that brought relief.
Momma, sickness changes every rhythm in our homes. If we are the ones who are ill, others might need to come and help. If our children are the ones who are sick, we add their care to every other duty that we have. If a loved one or family member is sick, we may not be able to be with them, but caring about them can add mental stress to our already full minds. The need for healing is persistent and loud.
The good news is that God says this about Himself: “I am the LORD, who heals you.” We might think of God’s healing as always coming in an instant, but sometimes that healing is a process.
In the Bible, an army commander named Naaman suffered from leprosy. Though initially skeptical about the prophet Elisha’s instructions, he obeyed: “He went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy” (2 Kings 5:14).
Jesus once healed a blind man in stages. He touched the man, who glanced around and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around” (Mark 8:24). But Jesus wasn’t done. “Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly” (Mark 8:25).
Momma, healing is available to you and to those you love, and it can come in so many ways. Whatever healing you are praying for tonight, no matter how long you’ve faced this sickness or disease, we are praying and believing with you for the Lord to do what only He can.
Tonight we pray for the momma who needs healing. Lord, she may need physical healing, emotional healing, or healing from trauma and stress. Lord, her body, her mind, and her heart need restoration; and together we cry out to You for mercy. Lord, please give her Your healing grace. We thank You so much. Please give this momma rest.
We ask in Jesus’s name, amen.
Oh God, my Healer, You alone know the pain I feel tonight. Please comfort me and deliver me from this physical or emotional pain:
