Who Just Needs You, Lord

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

THE DOCTOR TOLD ME, “I think you should see a surgeon. He can tell what this lump is by doing a biopsy.” I had just returned to college for my senior year, and I had not been feeling well. I called my momma to tell her that I was coming home and that I needed an appointment to see a surgeon. I said I was going to drive myself and my things home, which was just over fifteen hundred miles away, because I didn’t know how long I would be out of school. She insisted that my sister fly out to help me drive, and she did. I had honestly just wanted to think about everything on my own while on the road, but in the end, I very much enjoyed my sister’s company.

I met with the surgeon right away, and my fears were immediately relieved. He told me that I was fine and surgery was unnecessary. I was so grateful to know that I was okay, but I was frustrated to be missing out on my senior year.

I prayed every day while I was home that the Lord would meet me and supply every need so I could go back to school in the spring. Because I had withdrawn from the university, I needed to reapply for admission and financial aid. I asked the Lord to make a way. I needed Him to show up and fix it.

Do you know what happened? He did exactly what I asked Him to do: He made a way. I returned to school, and shortly after I arrived back in Tulsa, I met my now husband of nearly forty-five years. The Lord knew the right timing and the answers to my questions long before I did.

What do you need Him to do, Momma? What do you need Him to do in your heart tonight? Maybe you’re waiting on your own diagnosis, and the surgeon hasn’t called you back yet. Maybe you’re waiting to see how it all turns out. You’re wondering if God will deliver you from this trial. My friend, let’s cling to this truth together: “They cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.” Your deliverance is coming. God is coming just because you called.

Tonight we pray for the momma who needs You, Lord. She needs You to show up and fix it, bring peace, or take away the fear or anxiety. She needs You to bring clarity or solve what she can’t. She needs You to help her children or her marriage. She needs You to bring health or supernatural provision. She is at the end of herself and desperate for a miracle. Lord, just as she always answers when her children call to her, You always come when she calls to You. Show up now and bring everything she needs just because You love her.

We ask in Jesus’s name, amen.
