A Prayer For Christ The King Sunday
A Prayer for Christ the King Sunday
Final Sunday before Advent
O Lord, we are a family crying out
For Your Kingdom to come.
You alone are God.
May Your name be praised.
Lord, our world is bleeding out,
Wounded by entrapments
Of power,
Captured by entanglements
Of the soul.
O Lord, we are a family crying out
For You on the throne,
O Prince of Peace.
You have ushered in a new Kingdom
That begins in our hearts
And grows into our world out of our souls.
O Lord, our world is bleeding out.
Help us remember that before nation or name,
Our identity lies in You—
You, who heal the brokenhearted,
You, who bind up our wounds.
O Lord, we are a family crying out.
Forgive us for the ways
Shiny objects have distracted us
From Your cross.
We give to You
The idols we’ve worshiped
As cheap replacements
For Your splendor
And Your glory
And Your wonder.
O Lord, we are a world crying out
Not just in our lack
But also in our joy—
The profound light
That comes
From the beauty
Of being in Your Kingdom.
