A Prayer For A Weekend At Home
A Prayer for a Weekend at Home
You are a God who creates
And a God who rests.
In the midst of
Babies sobbing,
Soothe us;
Children scrambling,
Settle us;
And teenagers sulking,
Sustain us.
Breathe life into dry bones
So we may know what it is to create.
Beckon us to lie down
So we may know what it is to rest.
We thank You for this time together
And pray for mothers and fathers,
Grandparents and caregivers
Who spend the weekend working,
Hour by hour,
To fill cupboards for their children.
For theirs is the Kingdom too.
May the memories we make
And the time we spend together
In prayer and at work,
In rest and at play,
Fuel us for the week ahead.
