Peace Be With You
Peace Be with You
You will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Our feelings of self-worth are shaped by the opinions and attitudes of others. Some of us were surrounded by people who affirmed our worth again and again as we were growing up. Others of us weren’t. But all of us have been affected at some point along the way by the thoughtless words and hurtful actions of others. Those words and actions color how we see ourselves. And no matter how much we have heard about God’s love for us, we sometimes struggle to believe that we can actually experience that kind of love.
I know that’s harder for some people, especially for those whose parents didn’t give them a lot of support or show them the warmth of God’s love. That makes it even harder to overcome those feelings of worthlessness we all have at times. But those feelings can still be overcome. That struggle to know God’s love doesn’t have to be our story. His can be the only outside opinion that we truly rely on to shape our sense of worth.
Whether you realize it or not, God has created you with unique gifts and abilities, called you to a fulfilling purpose, and plans to use you for extraordinary accomplishments. Maybe you don’t even know what those gifts and abilities are yet or have only just begun to tap into them. Perhaps you haven’t discovered the real purpose of your journey yet. Maybe there seems to be too many obstacles to get over—someone wounded you or did something that put you at a disadvantage in life, or you’re in a situation that seems to have no way out or room for growth. Or maybe you think you’ve made too many mistakes. But God isn’t limited by these things, and neither are you. The God who created you is still there and loves you with an unending love.
Regardless of how people have treated you or tried to define your worth, God stands ready to walk with you for the rest of your life. He will help you draw a line between your past and your future, and He will help you forgive and move into all the fullness and freedom of a brand-new day.
Uncommon Key > If you are unsettled about something in your life—past or present—ask God to bring you peace about it. Be assured that God has never left you, and He never will—no matter what.
