Beginning to End

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture comes from the Lord, not just the selected bits and pieces we like or the ones we agree with. In understanding that all Scripture is God-breathed and inspired, we should be encouraged that it is God’s instrument that He uses to talk with us, teach and grow us, and move us closer to becoming the people He created us to be. Many of the most profound lessons and life-changing moments in my life and the life of my family have come from the inspiration and wisdom contained in the pages of the Bible.

Lessons on attitude—helping us expect that things will work out for the best, and when they don’t seem to in our view, encouraging and lifting us up. Lessons on faith—that we can have the confidence that what we hope for but can’t see will actually happen in God’s timing and in God’s way. Lessons on integrity, exemplified in the life of Daniel, and of the importance of telling the truth—letting my yes mean yes and my no mean no. Lessons on priorities—of loving God and loving others, of treating my spouse, family, and friends as He wants me to by putting them and their needs ahead of my own.

It’s amazing how the Bible, still the bestselling book of all time, has stood the test of time and has remained as relevant today as it ever was. But doesn’t that make sense? After all, it was inspired by our God, who is timeless. He is the God of all history—the past, what’s happening now, and what’s to come—and He knew what the world would be like today and knew what He would need for us to do. God grabbed ordinary people like David, Moses, Matthew, and Amos, and today He uses people like you and me to share His message through us, encouraging and inspiring others.
