An Infectious Love
An Infectious Love
I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. . . . I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:4, 22-23
You know the people who look at the world through rose-colored glasses? We’ve all been around people like that. They seem to bring a childlike passion to almost every setting they are in. Their enthusiasm is infectious and uplifting for everyone it touches.
Mike Flaherty is one of those guys in Nathan’s life. Mike is the head of a movie studio and hangs around with celebrities and titans of business of every kind, every single day. As you can imagine, he has an incredibly busy schedule flying back and forth across the country from meeting to meeting, putting together the next project that will make a difference in the world. That’s how he sees it, by the way. He’s busy doing great and impactful stuff.
And yet whenever Nathan talks with him, it’s as if he can’t believe his good fortune to get a few minutes with Nathan. “What a blessing that you can find some time to talk with me.” I already know what his reaction to today’s devotional will be: “I can’t believe you put my name in a devotional! That is so amazing . . . wait until I show my children!”
That’s how God reacts to us. “Hey, Judy is praying, wanting to talk with Me! It is so great to hear from you again, Judy!” God loves us that much. Christ gave us “the glory” that God gave Him. He did that when He hung on the cross for us and when He sent His Helper, the Holy Spirit, to walk with us. He did that so He can have a moment-by-moment relationship with us.
Take a moment and thank Him. And listen to Him say, “What a blessing for Me that you called!” Now that is a pretty neat God.
Uncommon Key > God’s passion for you is enthusiastic and real. What a blessing to have a God who loves you and wants to spend every minute with you. Keep that in mind when you talk with Him today, and let your passion for Him overflow.
